Halloween 2009

Another halloween, another round of costumes. My girls are starting to learn to like Halloween more and more each year. I think Vanessa and Alyssa really got the hang of it because they were running from house to house. I am sure next year they are going to outrun their dad and me and take off for all the houses in the neighborhood.

our FIRST camping trip EVER!!!!!

So we finally took the plunge and went camping for the very first time and we went almost a whole week. Our friends had invited us to go with them and Steve has always wanted us to try it so we agreed. The time came and we were as prepared as we could be. We left early morning on Sunday 4 am to be exact which turned out perfect since our destination was about 6 hours away if we made no stops. We got to Kings Canyon (near Visalia and Fresno up north). I do not remember the ride up there and neither do the kids, I gave them all dramamine and benadryl to be drowsy and sleepy and not get car sick. Once we got there it was time to unpack (My friend Christy is right, the worst part of camping is packing and unpacking). It wasn't long before the girls got really dirty in the dirt. It was one of those things as a mom that you just have to let go while you are camping.
During our week long visit we went on nightly rides looking for wildlife and we got to see two different mamma bears with two cub bears. Lots of deers both male and female. We also spent sometime near the river and took a hike. We visited a really nice cavern that was called Boyden's cave where it was a mere 55 degrees all year round no matter what the season. And, we had nightly campfires. All in all it was a very nice, relaxing time in the wild. I didn't take many pictures because I ran out of memory on my camera but the ones I did get were worthwhile.

GIRLS can catch lizards too!!!!!

My Alyssa went out to the backyard and caught herself a lizard. So there girls can catch lizards too!!! Alyssa caught the lizard without any nets only with her bare hands. She was so sad to see it go and she looked for him the next day but never found him. She is definitely my animal lover, she loves any and all kinds of animals.

So my baby is now 1!!!!!

I cant believe how fast time flies...MY BABY is officially one and I am not ready for her to grow up. We had a great Birthday party with our friends and family....thank you to all who came and weathered the cloudy, cold day. Melissa is the last one and I am sad to see her grow up.

My baby is walking

Melissa is growing up and walking around like nothing. It is unbelievable how fast time flies. She is going to be 1 in less than a month and I am already missing my baby. We need to cherish these moments that we get while they are tiny because they will become blurry images in years to come.

Finally Earrings for Vanessa

Vanessa and Alyssa have been talking about getting new earrings for a while, I would say about 1 to 2 months now. I never called them on their wish until one day I could not put it off any longer. I was taking them to school and Alyssa said is today the day we get our earrings and I said 'yeah, after school'. I thought they would have forgotten about it but after I picked them up from school, they asked are we going now? I told them yeah after we eat dinner and get Melissa a bottle, so we went home and ate dinner and Melissa got her bottle. Then Vanessa said now we can go and get earrings and I said fine but you both promise that you will go through with it (We had another incident where I called their bluff and they backed out). They both looked at me and said yes we promise so off we go to get their ears pierced. On the way there, Vanessa asks Alyssa if she can go first and of course Alyssa says yes (Alyssa agrees to anything Vanessa asks of her). So we get to the store and Vanessa picks out her earrings. I tell the girls at the store that I need two girls (one in each ear) to do it at the same time. The girl agrees and says okay. As they get into position Vanessa is intimidated and tells me no mom I don't want them anymore. I look at the girls and tell them go and they do it. These are the before and after pics of her. It has now been a couple of weeks and she loves them. She even tells Alyssa that they don't hurt that much (Alyssa changed her mind after seeing Vanessa go through with it, so she didn't get them). Vanessa tells Alyssa that its like they are pinching your ears and she pinches her ears to show her.
